Egwene, however, is a filthy, horrible little wretch. Unless "Egewyn" is one of those relationship portmanteaux for Egwene & Gawyn.
Interestingly enough Egwene's name is pronounced like ehGWAIN. This leaves the possibility that much of Egwene's arc is eventually merged with Gawyn's and others to form that of Sir Gawain of King Artur's court. This is reminiscent of another couple Moiraine and Merrilin who merge together to form Merlin (with a little of the Amyrllin thrown in for good measure) .
Names in WoT can be so much fun. On other example I like is that M'hael is pronounced like Michael. So that once Logain becomes the M'hael we will have two of the Archangels together. (Unfortunately Toveinne cannot be misconstrued as Raphael.)
