Most of those arn't story arcs... rAndy aL Send a noteboard - 06/10/2009 06:37:08 AM
Don't get me wrong, I love the Wheel of Time as much as anyone else. Nonetheless, there have been a few story arcs that I've found to be rather long winded.

1. Perrin's mission to Masema and subsequent rescue of Faile.

Yes, this one took far too long. Congradulations on finally noticing.

2. Moiraine's death and rescue.

Was never a continuous story arc. Obviously in a series like WoT, there are going to be plot points set up miles in advance, to make the books seem more continuous. Yes, I know that miles are a measure of distance.
3. Who killed Asmodean.

Was never intended to be revealed in the first place. AFAIK, RJ never intended for people to work this out and is only being included to shut us up.

4. Where is Demandred.

That isn't a story arc. It isn't a mystery, it's just something we arn't supposed to know yet. Or maybe ever.

Edit 1: Other storylines that took forever (just to name a few):

Mat finding his wife.
The Black Ajah Hunt.

Mat & Tuon didn't take that long (and only seems that way compared to the instant relationships all the other characters form). It was also set up early, but you should expect that.

The BA Hunt was a minor story arc, so it isn't as important and takes longer to get the same number of pages.
