Doesn't matter, she was there Isaac Send a noteboard - 28/10/2009 06:02:08 AM
I think that was the whole point of Rand's little 'sit down for a game then punch them in the face' comment.

Whether she lured him in or not, she obviously was there because she compulsed whatshisname, no chance in heck some BA did that instead. Now, sure, she could have left after that, but why would she expect Rand to nuke her compound, it's not his style. She's not omniscient. He had this same thing before when he attacked Rahvin, he didn't use callandor or the CK to obliterate the palace of Andor. Nor Illian. Are you seriously telling me she anticipated Rand sending someone down as a canary in the coal mine for this exact purpose? What's more, base don the level of compulsion and what Rand said, the guys brain should have been gelatin if she'd simply removed the weave, that is I imagine the main reason Rand talks about that, to make it clear that Graendal is dead. Why, based on all his previous behavior - and having no spies left after Rand zapped Elza and Semi - should she think Rand suddenly has gone from not killing women to taking a Hiroshima approach to collateral damage?

You're also assuming Grandael snuck one by one Nyneave, she believed she removed all the compulsion from Kerb, we've no real reason to think otherwise, except FS craftiness which has tended to be in short supply during the series. Rand knows the FS pretty well, he said, as have other FS for that matter, that Graendal is heavy handed with compulsion, erasing personality and intellect. Nyneave specifically says he's under heavy compulsion. I can't see Graendal anticipating a need to suddenly yank the compulsion off him without a trace, something she probably couldn't do at a distance anyway. So she's unlikely to have been able to improvise on the spot if she just rushed to a nearby hill with a little gate jump and said 'Ah, so that was his plan!"
The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.
