You don't see cops practise having gun pointed at their head and try to get out of it. Not everything has a counter, and the counter only works in a movie.
The trust issue could be true. But who is to say the Ashaman do not already? For all we know, each Ashaman already fully trust some other Ashaman, just not AS. Soldiers trust other soldiers with their lifes, or else you can't fight any battle. Just go back to DW. When they made the air dome, they reach made a piece of the Dome, and you had to trust other Ashaman making their piece, or your part of the dome is useless.
