If Rand had been using Compulsion she'd have given in. Unless you're holding the Source you're stuffed. Sure later on you can try and shake the effects if you are strong willed - Nynaeve and Morgase for example, but both were compelled to begin with.
Probably a more fitting example would be Rand with the Seafolk. It's just the ta'veren effect, but they accuse the AS of compulsion.
