Didn't Sheriam's PoV suggest that she voluntarily joined because she'd been promised power and glory over others?
That's what I get for coming up with ideas at 4:00 A.M.
Yeah, I forgot about Sheriam's earlier pov, where it pretty much says she joined of her own free will. It was a nice thought though, since she was the one that told Egwene about the method in the first place, and now the revelation she's Black.
I can't believe that over 200 Aes Sedai decided to serve evil spontaneously. The numbers have always seemed skewed to me. That's like 20% of the Vatican being satanic... it strains credibility, even though it makes for a good novel. I can imagine the BA turning anyone who is strong in the Power or capable, which may explain why so many high ranking AS are DF's.
