If Verin had stabbed herself in the stomach, she would have believed that it was the "hour of her death" yet she still could have attempted to find a Healer. She would still be dying up until the point she was Healed.
Hmmmmm.... What if a comet hit the planet before Rand had a chance to go face the DO? If a frog had pockets, he'd tote a pistol to keep the snakes off.
