Tam mentions how he became a Blademaster in ch. 47:
"I killed a man who was one [Blademaster], did it in front of witnesses, but I've never forgiven myself for it. Though it needed doing."

The scene would probably appear in the prequel about Tam. Was Tam maybe forced to defend someones - maybe Kari's - honor (like Galad did in his duel with Valda, because of Morgase's rape)? Did Tam kill a former friend, maybe another officer among the Companions?

Any other ideas, who this Blademaster might have been, why Tam saw the need to kill him, but somehow still feels guilty?
