Perhaps there is more than one reason... randfandom Send a noteboard - 10/11/2009 06:06:09 PM
So, what purpose does Moiraine have now? Obviously she has some part to play, otherwise there'd be no reason to rescue her.

Perhaps the real reason is to bring Mat to the 'Fins again. Placing Mat with his luck right there where fate can actually be changed (since the Eelfin can grant wishes, they must have the ability to change the web of the pattern itself). I suspect this will be the place where Mat will gamble his eye away...

Not to say that Moiraine herself is unimportant, for one thing, she may have learned crucial info from the 'fins, but rescuing her may be secondary to placing Mat where he needs to be.
