Basically my thought process goes like this:

The Guide gives us a great encyclopedic overview/summary of the people who became the Forsaken! Wouldn't it be great if the books actually portrayed those people, because that portrayal would be far more intimate and personal than what the BWB can do?

Alas, they generally have not.
