I think the most obvious "prequel" to Rand's arc in this book would be the Seanchan Campaign in The Path of Daggers.

That passage was always the reason why I felt that TPoD was a great book despite some of its... less enjoyable passages.

Gathering Clouds, Storm of War Fog of Battle, A Time for Iron... still a great sequence, and the definitive set up for the Rand of this book. Even the Chapter Headings are indicative.

Same with Egwene. tPoD was the start of her journey, though there is less set up for what she eventually becomes.

I loved Dark Rand. I agree, I wish he was around longer. Should've come out earlier in the series. Master Radishes - 13/11/2009 03:23:59 PM 790 Views

Reading about a saint is boring. Reading about an imperfect hero is exciting. Shannow - 13/11/2009 04:38:24 PM 683 Views

I don't read for morality either, but IMO, it makes a better story because it is tougher Cannoli - 14/11/2009 12:08:14 AM 720 Views

You're right. But I'm very angry with the writers for portraying Egwene in such a positive way. Shannow - 13/11/2009 07:18:10 PM 744 Views
