Because when Rand asks Lanfear when she is posiing as Selene in the Great Hunt if she is Aes Sedai she is disdainful, although she was one at one time. So yea, it is possible, given the Forsaken mindset that they would not see themselves as Darkfriends or Black Ajah. They are the Chosen after all. Messana would be honestly disdainful of the notion.
