But there isn't any great, compelling proof for it. The 'Song' isn't literally one magical song to find, but rather a lost technique.
A lost technique that requires Nym and Ogier who may be leaving this world soon.
What is the purpose of even mentioning a Song and having Egwene using TAR to take her to the Tuatha'an meetingplace in order to 'preserve the people and the world'? The Song is the only thing the Tinkers are useful for, yes? That would be proof enough for me to unbalance all the uncertainties on the other side.
Likely those Tinkers know what the dead Tinkers Mat found knew. I have no idea what that is, but it was apparently worth killing them for. As for "the Song," the point is to give another example of how information gets distorted through the years.
That no one knows how to test for the ability to sing is a fairly weak argument since people seem to be rediscovering lost Talents and techniques all over the show lately.
True, except that Singing doesn't seem to be a Talent that someone will suddenly discover, like seeing visions around people or talking to wolves. No one is going to be walking around singing and suddenly noticing it having an effect on the things around them.
Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.
