Verin only wrote the letter because the Pattern had very strongly pushed her to wait for him. At this point, I think she just warned him using her honest assessment of the level of threat, and knowing that if he is fated to do something, many things will push him to start down a particular path.

So, her letter really means nothing beyond advising him to wait until the Pattern forced him down a certain path, rather than wandering around having randon adventures.
