We've had hints from Brandon that even Forsaken aren't necessarily safe from it.

And Asmo would definitely recognised it. I also have trouble with it being Slayer because even if Asmodean could only channel a small amount of power, surely he could have distracted Slayer somehow (like how Sorilea blinds Semirhage).
