If the outrigger novels about Mat's & Tuon's reconquest of Seanchan are written sometime, you will actually see a cool military campaign with large OP battles, cannons, tactics, etc.

But I doubt that it will play a decisive role at TG, which side will have the better tactic or military prowess. The DO's influence will yet become stronger, humankind will be pretty desperate & hopeless, so that in the end only Rand can find the final punch to probably close the Bore and win TG. Mankind (plus Ogier & wolves & Heroes of the Horn) has to to resist till then to give Rand this chance.

Even if you think this Armageddon scenario is boring and everything that happened before becomes pointless, I think the journey was the reward, so to speak.
