Brandon's explanation of Balefire was spot-on with what RJ had previously said. He never seemed the least bit confused. Remember that it was one of the characters thoughts that said balefire eliminates without possibility of rebirth. That character was plainly wrong.
When asked, Brandon's answer was clear and consistent with what RJ had already said: If balefire was strong enough, then DO can't transmigrate the soul, but the soul will still be respun into the pattern as a newborn.

I'm equally disturbed by any fan that needs such convincing.
He's learning to MAFO or RAFO now. Thank goodness.
I didn't read much of the interviews leading up to TGS precisely because the first few had too many instances of "well, Sanderson did throw us a bone and reveal a little hint about x." Between that and pre-releasing the Prologue and first two chapters I started to feel like, "y'know, I think reading the entire book will be more fun if I wait for its release."

I wonder why they wouldn't let him include a mere extra 50,000 or so words. *NM*

I bet it wouldn't be as huge as TSR or LoC even with the additional material included. *NM*
