Besides, Forsaken commanding BA is different to BA commanding BA. For one thing, a BA member is unlikely to backstab a Forsaken. This time, I actually agree with Cannoli; most darkfriends will try to climb the ranks by eliminating those above them. Effective BA members would not be let loose by their leaders, because they will probably try to push in on the Supreme Council.
Liandrin tried to backstab a Forsaken and Alviarin has certainly had thoughts in that direction, if not action.

Yes BA can betray BA, but I think we are missing a key component in how they advance through the ranks. How has Asne been BA for 120+ years and not made her way up the ranks more? If it was a free for all of killing off those ahead of you in the organization she seems ruthless enough to be higher up!
Realistically the BA would never have survived for 2000 years if there wasn't some formal system in place; And why recruit someone who is strong enough to kill you off as soon as you drop your guard? They aren't the Sith!
I tend to think the majority of the BA are like Sheriam and are really just looking for more Power. The whole metaphysical battle isn't relevant to most of them, they mostly seem to be after personal gain, not the "Glory of the Great Lord".
