She was already super powerful. No one would have defeated her. Egwene, Aviendha, Rand, Moiraine, Wise Ones, they would all have lost even without the Angreal. You don't give your enemy an angreal unless it somehow gives you an advantage. And we've never seen any advantage in strengthening your enemy.

So either Moiraine knew from the arches that she could ensure Lanfear was burned out by grabbing the angreal from her, or she needed to make sure that Rand didn't try to fight her and end up dying himself or *semispoiler from TGS* | killing her and turning into Dark Halo Rand right there|.

I know she knew beforehand what would happen. But what value did she see in leaving the angreal for Lanfear?
