Strength and whether they are holding the power has nothing to do with how it works within the confines of the bond.

Compulsion is a different but related thing.


I am pretty sure you can't compel a person holding the source - too many cases listed in the books. I can look up the forsaken incident later. It's possible that you can't even bond them when they are holding the source, but that one is not proven one way or the other.

The Ashaman who bonded and compelled sisters shielded them first, then gave them a kiss to seal the bond and compel them, when already shielded.
