We don't know exactly what Asmo said, since Rand only paraphrases it. Though that "there were limits for one man by himself " might actually indicate that certain tools and/or cycles could create larger Gateways, as said e.g. at the Sharom to create the Bore.

Anyway, which maximum size Gateways have, might be a good question for BS!


And for my purposes, I'm only really interested in unaided strength, as the greatest use of this gateway model is as a use for the calculation of comparative strength.

As to how it relates to other theories like your Gateway/Bore into the Dark One's prison, remember that the hole was drilled by a TEAM of One Power scientists working together, so then the gateway size limit is greatly increased.


How big a gateway a mixed gender team of 72 powerful Aes Sedai could create is not known. It might well be massive.


Even one man and woman in a ring can make a gateway that exceeds Rand's. The thirteen Sitters who wove a gateway from Salidar made an enormous gateway. A circle of 72 mixed channelers might make something of extreme size - I wouldn't be surprised if it was a mile in each direction.
