Also, for example, when Semirhages forces Rand to kill Min. Plus, Aviendha and Min mention that they sometimes mute the bond. I think one can also simply assume that Rand & Co. become more and more accustomed to it, so that they don't mention all the time, what emotions come through the bond (which would be tiresome writing as well, like Perrin sniffing emotions all the time).
I don't think the bond is that important and should be mentioned more often. But you might be correct that RJ possibly would have described what is going on through the bond in certain scenes, where BS didn't do it. However, it actually didn't bother me at all.
