I was suggesting neither that the WT wasn't a priority nor that the Seanchan should have attacked the BT, not even that they should raid it instead of attempting to destroy it either. Capturing Asha'man with the new a'dam would give them Travelling too, but more limited as it can't be spread to the damane.

First, I was pointing out that the Seanchan do consider the Asha'man a big threat and long have (since TPOD when the Asha'man inflicted them a big defeat, from their perspective), and they have evidence they are linked to Rand and the AS. I found it curious this got pushed aside completely, that Yulan or Tuon didn't mention the Asha'man, even if they chose to deal with the WT first.

I was pointing out that when Karede was asked to make a report with his personal comments on the secret plans by Yulan himself, it involved two maps, and Jordan revealed only that the one on top was of Tar Valon. He left the second map a mystery. So, Yulan's plan involved two maps originally, but in TGS his plan involved only a raid on Tar Valon.

IMHO, the probable explanation for this is that Brandon chose to keep the second part of his plan out of TGS because it concerns the Asha'man and this story line will develop over the course of ToM only, whereas originally, Jordan was to develop all of that in parallel through a single book. I think originally Yulan intended to raid the Tower first, and if they got Travelling and the "weapon", use both to strike a decisive blow at the BT soon after. Following the book split, I think Brandon may have decided to excise this part of the original plan and have the generals present it to the Empress only in the aftermath of the raid now.

I'm not quite sure what makes you think the second one is of Illian. Karede was asked to contribute his insight on Yulan's secret plan, not on the whole campaign. No doubt his air forces are involved with the invasion of Illian, but that wouldn't touch on the secret plan he asked Karede to comment on.

What lies did Leanne tell? Really, there's no reason to dismiss a redemptive arc for Elaida. - 16/12/2009 10:48:09 PM 958 Views
