I agree with your point. Even Rand was slowed by the limits of what a single Asha'man can do.
The stronger Seanchan female channelers would be occupied making gateways for supply trains, etc. How many women can make gateways large enough to move carts or wagons? Not many.
You do make a good point, but I think linking is greatly superior and could be exploited properly.
