By the way, I don't understand how the Waygates can be sealed. Didn't Moiraine burn through a sealed Waygate back in EotW? If she can do it, surely any dreadlord lead Trolloc army can unseal any Waygate with equal ease.

Correct. Sealing the gate is useless if the enemy has any channelers. The guards Rand has set are equally useless in such case.

I can't remember if Rand wove traps on top of the sealed doorways. But if so, surely the trap will be triggered and dissipate after the first bunch of Trollocs have run through it. It cannot keep destroying them forever. Any ward I've seen in the series has had to be reset once triggered.

The only trap on a waygate that we know of was the one in Shadar Logoth. From the context of that and other discussions, it seems rather obvious that that was infact the only trap like that on a waygate, the rest are guarded by men/ogier.

Rand should take the time to go and destroy all the waygates in/near the blight. That way the trollocs could not use the ways.

Oh, and Rand claims that the ward he put on Callandor could reset after being triggered and be ready to trap again. He also implies that the trap on the SL waygate will also reset since he weaves the trap to kill slowly so that the corpses of the first victims of the trap wont be near the waygate to warn the next batch.

I think it isn't a function of the power used. It's the property of the gateway .... - 21/12/2009 07:31:41 PM 468 Views
