Channelers have been growing weaker over the last 3000 years. 1000 years ago there were more women of Egwene's strength, and 100 years ago there were something like 20 women of Moiraine's strength in the Tower, according to Cadsuane. I'm sure you'll correct me by saying it was actually 40 women 200 years ago or something-which doesn't change the concept of weakaning channelers in the slightest. Go back 300 years and the average woman was more than twice as strong as the average woman today.
