Rand accurately comments on this later in the series (in one scene, he randomly comments that Egwene or himself are usually in agreement with each other, but in some matters one may be ahead of the other, and the latter would eventually come around) which was surprising given the amount of times Mat, Rand and Perrin spend claiming to have no understanding of women.
This becomes more apparent when Egwene is dealing with Moiraine and other Aes Sedai, and when directly asked about Rand, she defends him and puts the blame on the Aes Sedai for being manipulative.
