It seems like for the entire series Rand, along with everyone in the third age, has been a dim comparison to his AoL counterpart. True he has grown more powerful and adept in using the Power as the books have come out, but always he has discovered "not even a tenth" of what his true power could be. Even still, in the 11th book, Rand needs Lews Therin to take over to make full use of his skills.

My question is, will Rand ever surpass Lews Therin? Or is his only hope to be as good as Lews Therin?
