Anytime Rand or one of the cast members hold a cuendillar seal, they comment that it is much heavier than it looks, and it tends to weigh down the pouch Moiraine carried one in during the first part of the series IIRC.
There's a very small chance that's because the seals are special in some way (being the Seals of the DO's prison, and the only known cuendillar that has decayed), but it's more likely to simply be a property of heartstone.
Having said all that, I still think cuendillar shields would work for strong humans and especially Ogier (or Trollocs?) but it's unlikely we'll see them in the series.
