Knotted weaves can dissipate with time. As far as we know cuendillar does not weaken with time unless they are used as seals to the dark ones prison.


They dissipate if they are deliberately tied loosely. If the knot is tied permanently, nothing short of the One Power can end the weave.

Moghedien's compulsion on Liandrin is an example of this. But the real source of this information is RJ himself, who stated so in a response to a question from a fan.
