Because no one's better at growing food that a nomadic group of wagoneers

I think they will find the Song, and help to Sing. Possibly to heal the Bore, but also possibly to do other things such as repair the Blight post-TG, or resurrect Rand if he dies, or something like that.
I think that the tinkers may have a somewhat larger role in the 'post Tarmon Gaidon' problems - even if the DO is defeated, there will still probably be a lot of pragmatic issues to deal with. The huge environmental damage that the DO has already done is a serious problem - a great deal of the world's food has spoiled, and unless the Creator suddenly decides to have manna rain down from the heavens, a lot of people are going to die of starvation, regardless of whether or not Rand wins. Arad Doman, anyone?
I amuse myself.
Any thoughts on the tinkers?

Tinkers don't really represent Order, since they are nonviolent.

Well they do grow their own food, don't they? How could they afford to just buy it? *NM*

I'm almost certain there's more to it than a "random" band of Trollocs

Yes, they suck. Most boring and useless characters in the entire series. *NM*
