But I doubt that any of the characters will read it yet. After all, even if the text is written in the context of the series, it's basically just a bonus by RJ written for interested fans.

Probably the fully integrated Rand will know even better what happened back then. Besides that, while it certainly should be interesting for the characters to read TSaSG, I doubt that there are clues how to defeat the DO in this text. One should better concentrate on Fel's riddle and the various Prophecies (like Min does).
