It's sort of hard to tell, but I feel like the Rahvin-Rand battle went on for a while. Don't have the book in front of me, but isn't there a sort of "jump" in the fight when Rand goes "he'd been stalking rahvin for a while now" or words to that effect?
Regardless, it was still at least an hour from the Death Lightning to the Balefire.
And, as has been said, this was CASTLE-SIZED BALEFIRE. This was CHOEDAN FREAKING KAL balefire.
Even if balefire has some sort of diminishing returns formula (3 inches of balefire erases 15 minutes, 6 inches erases only 25, etc.) I feel like it'd have to be more than "a few hours."

Not sure how to phrase this, but I'm wondering if the effect of the balefire being "spread out" over the entire castle and all the people in it makes it burn each of the people's threads back less than it would if that entire stream were directed at one person? So, let's say Rhavin got burned back an hour...if Rand had BF'd 2 people with that stream of BF instead of just Rhavin, would both of them be burned back 30 minutes?
