I remember thinking the same thing when I read that passage!

I really can't see Vanin having a long-term working relationship with an AS; it just doesn't fit his nature and behavior through the books.

Here is how I imagine it going:

- Vanin uses route for smuggling.
- Some AS uses same route for secretive travel.
- Vanin and AS meet in said pass.
- Each knows what the other is doing; neither wants to be caught
- AS makes tenuous friendship by telling Vanin about moutain geology; Vanin just tries not to have any further dealings with said As
"Take the Gleeman!" Rand and Mat cried, throwing Thom to the Myrddraal. Then they ran away as fast as they could, and Thom's screams quickly faded into the distance along with any inconvenient feelings of guilt.

The bigger question in my head is why an AS would even speak to the likes of Vanin darius_sedai - 05/02/2010 09:37:09 PM 1182 Views

Are we suggesting that he is a Warder? Was he on a mission when he ran into Mat? amirebram - 09/02/2010 01:07:39 AM 1284 Views
I doubt that he's a Warder darius_sedai - 13/02/2010 04:19:26 PM 1130 Views
