Oddly though, the Collam Daan was destroyed by the drilling of the Bore despite the Bore not being the thinnest there.

At the precise moment the Bore was drilled, the DO had greatest access to the spot of the drilling. But once things settled down, and the Pattern stabilized from the drilling, the weakest spot ended up being where SG is. *shrugs*

IMHO the Bore (the thinnest part) was where they drilled it at the Collam Daan. However, his release caused such a flux in the Pattern that when it did settle down, the Bore was in a different place. Perhaps that's identical to what you're saying.
