Thanks, Etzel! I'd (mostly) forgotten about Fain's myrddraal and their agreement. I wondered a few times afterwards, as Fain seemed to traipse (in an evil way, of course) through Randland, what tasks he'd set for his "pet" demon. That was so many years ago, however, that it slipped out of my memory.

The unseen eyes are also a good one. They're not mentioned so often to be just a part of TAR's standard description. And there certainly are many possibilites derivable from that. Off the top of my head, two nice ones are (a) where are all those Heroes of the Horn and (b) did the DO make some shadowspawn specifically for TAR (or leave a bunch there)?

I'd say that Mat's dice have received so much attention in the text itself that it can't be "small." But I've been wrong so many times before, both in perspective and in analysis...

The best guesses for the little, important thing are the dices in Mat's head, Fain's Myrddraal (and the circumstances of their pact), or maybe the "unseen eyes" in TAR, which are mentioned several times.

Most of the things you mention were discussed very much or were clearly in LoC.
