I agree with Lanfear, mainly because of Asmodean's own backstory (promising childhood as a musical prodigy that never quite fulfilled his potential)...he was never meant for greatness, only to follow on the heels of greater individuals.
I think one of the Forsaken would have destroyed him and taken the Choedan Kal. I nominate Lanfear first because she was smart enough to stay near him and powerful enough to crush him in Tel'Aran'Rhiod without an angreal if needed.
I always think it's interesting that the six most powerful of the Chosen always thought it would be useful to have access to angreal, but none really go to much trouble to find one. Lanfear could have found the female Choedan Kal if she had just searched for a few moments, especially since Rand was so tired she could have Shielded and knocked him out while he tried to force the disruptive weave back from his connection. She could have saved herself a lot of trouble if she just took a bunch of angreal or terangreal and took them to her hiding place.
