Berelain.
In the Shadow Rising my opinion was Berelain is a shallow, lightskirt who will use her hot babe looks to manipulate men. She appears at Rand's bedroom door in suggestive nightwear and tries to seduce Rand. Later she tries the same approach with Perrin. As I continue the story Berelain is a competent administrator who is using what few weapons she has to secure Mayene's independence.
Berelain probably tried to seduce Rand so he can be more sympathetic towards her WRT to the Tairens who we all see treat her so well. She drops the approach because the whole mirror scene scares the hell out of her, and because she doesn't need to -- Rand is already supportive of Mayene's independance and sovereignty.
As for Perrin, maybe she simply thinks he's hot. There might be some attempt there to cement an alliance with Rand by banging one of his buddies, but I think she's also actually attracted to him as well.
Faile - I know many posters love to hate Faile.
I'm not sure that hatred is warranted. What we have is a 16 year old girl trying attract the man she loves, trying to behave the way Saladean women behave toward their men, and trying to help their man. Faile tricks Loial into taking her into the Ways. Why? The women of Saladean leaders go to war with their man. Deira certainly goes to war with Bashere. Faile was going to war with her man/husband.
Faile expects Perrin to act like Saladean men. The first sign of this was in TSR. In the Ways Faile slaps Perrin across the face, Perrin say don't do that again and Faile slaps Perrin again. Perrin proceeds to spank Faile. Faile is not mad at Perrin but wonders by Bain and Chiad didn't stop Perrin. Later is the series Faile gets jealous of Berelain because Perrin treats Berelain like Faile wants to be treated. Maybe Perrin should spank Faile more often.

Yeah, I agree. Faile may seem irritating on the surface, but she's expecting Perrin to be bold and boastful, because that's what a Saldean man would do. I think actually Faile is a bit sheltered, and things both she and later Davram say seem to back that up. That's why early in the relationship she constantly expects Perrin to act differently.
Meanwhile Perrin doesn't act that way because he's used to how TR women act. What you happen if you get in a fight with a TR woman? She'll make your life the Pit of Doom, then she'll use the WC (an appropriate abbreviation for the Women's Circle, no?
) against you too, convincing the other women to turn their husbands against you. Well, that's unless you're a Congar or Coplin, but they're all inbred anyway. I'd blame Faile for this later on, like in aCoS, because at that point she's spent time in the TR and she knows how the women are. She should be able to see that he's been raised not to give her lip.I like Faile actually. She's devoted to Perrin, and even though she goes behind his back all the time, she does it to aid him.
Speaking of Chiad and Bain. Why did Chiad and Bain agree to go with Faile to Two Rivers? I think it was because Chiad knew Gaul was going an wanted to be close to Chiad.
Who know with Aiel really?
Maybe it's because of Gaul, maybe because it's they're friendly with Faile, maybe it's because of Perrin freeing Gaul, maybe they're curious to see where Rand grew up. Maidens are known for having a strange sense of honor, after all. Egwene should have told the WO of her other responsibilities but like most teenagers she doesn't.
I'm not sure the WO would care, and probably Moiraine lets this apprenticeship go on to keep Egwene out of her hair.
Though Egwene doesn't really have too many irritating moments in this book, if at all. Most of the time, she's basically just a supporting character.
