The best guesses for the little, important thing are the dices in Mat's head, Fain's Myrddraal (and the circumstances of their pact), or maybe the "unseen eyes" in TAR, which are mentioned several times.

Most of the things you mention were discussed very much or were clearly in LoC.


They have played a huge role in the series if you sit back and think about it.

As for Fain's Myrddraal, wasn't that from tGH?


Agreed on the first point. I can understand that RJ/BS may've gone to sites that didn't much discuss one thing or another but the dice are big. Still, Etzel may've meant some aspect of them unnoticed before.
Fain's "pet" is from TSR. That's when we find out the WC are in Emond's Field...
