Just because the body was clearly gotten rid of in one way or another does not mean that no trace of the body was left behind. There could have been blood on the floor, etc, while the body itself was removed.
Who knows what traces were left? When the servants cleaned up the palace it is quite possible that they would have cleaned up any mess without making a big deal of it.
