I made a point of not joining wotmania until I had finished the then current volumes (up to WH). I didn't want to spoil anything after so fully enjoying tEotW.

But yes, the journey would in itself be little spoiled if one were to discover something prematurely. Just getting immersed in the world is a huge part of WoT for me; it helped me get through a really tough time with chronic pain.
