I was raised Catholic, went to a Catholic school, Well, I still go to a Catholic school, and I became (and still am) an atheist.

I think that it is hard because of the biase that your parents and surroundings give you. The good thing that helped me a lot was friends who were willing to support my doubting and not try to reindoctrinate me(as many people did).

I agree that biases given by our surrounding as children make our religions a lot of the time. Our religion teacher one day, who is a devout Catholic, said that if she had been born to Hindus she would be teaching Hinduisn in an Indian classroom right now.
