You still don't get it. The Logic Ninja - 13/04/2004 03:09:56 PM

Have the barber take a little off your skull, because it's just too thick to accept the basic idea of faith.

Faith is about not needing proof, and you can't accept that because proof is all that makes your life bearable.
I get that that's what faith is all about. THAT'S WHAT MAKES FAITH A BAD IDEA. Get it? Believing things without evidence is the number-one worst way of figuring out how things *really* work. Just because you think you don't "need" proof doesn't mean that your assumption is a rational one.

Proof is "all that makes my life bearable"? Please, stop with the snide insults. The process I use to disseminate new information has nothing to do with "making my life bearable". My life's a lot of fun, actually.

We'll see.

By the way, keep on gloating before the fact, because in your world, if you're right, you don't get to gloat afterwards.
I'm not gloating, I'm trying to point out to you that yes, faith is belief that "doesn't need evidence," which has nothing to do with how (un)likely it is to be right.

I am not yet born, console me.
I fear that the human race may with tall walls wall me,
with strong drugs dope me, with wise lies lure me,
on black racks rack me, in blood-baths roll me.
