Re: Dystopian literature Dreaded Anomaly Send a noteboard - 05/09/2009 11:22:40 PM
1. What dystopian literature have you read?

1984, Animal Farm, Harrison Bergeron, Brave New World, The Giver, The Time Machine, Fahrenheit 451, V for Vendetta.

2. Which was your favorite, and why?

1984, because so many of Orwell's concepts resonate with what can be observed in the present day. I see doublethink everywhere now.

3. Which was your least favorite, and why?

I enjoyed all of them, but I connected least with Brave New World. I'm not really sure why; perhaps it's that its society seems further removed from ours than the rest.

4. Which did you find most disturbing, and why?

Also 1984. This is the one I've reread the most, and every time I do, I see more connections to the real world...

5. Do you find it hard to read some dystopian literature because it is so disturbing?

Not hard, but certainly eye-opening.

Don't get too spoilerific in these. :P

Currently I'm reading Zamyatin's We. Anyone else ever read it? Thoughts?

I haven't read it. There are several in this thread that I need to pick up.
