Thanks for all the info! There were no cliffhangers, but was there a major plotline that was resolved? Like the first 3 books of WoT? Rand going to the Stone of Tear and declaring he is the Dragon Reborn? Something like that.....
In fact, taking into account where the story ends, the analogy with THE DRAGON REBORN is a good one. The story is still ongoing, the characters still have stuff to do, but there's no cliffhangers, the immediate story is over and it's not necessary to read THE SHADOW RISING straight away. I'd say that's a fair comparison to the situation at the end of A STORM OF SWORDS.
