I'm thinking the wine and cheese/food choice could be more elitist still.

...and flipping through the wonderful book by Taschen on the works of Caravaggio (linked below for those interested).
I'm looking for ways to be more élitist and pretentious. It irritates the hoi polloi to no end, and that alone is a reason to continue to engage in it. So, other than trashing the latest works of derivative genre tripe that others adore, does anyone here have nice constructive suggestions for me on how I can become more élitist? I'd be most happy to hear them.

With the Bordeaux it obviously depends on what kind and what year, but Gruyère is fairly basic, surely? Perhaps not in the good cheese-hating United States, but still.

Other than that, let's see... you could put something appropriate like "Après nous, le déluge" in your sig, or possibly "Oderint dum metuant". Although that last one might be more evil dictator than elitist.

I'm sipping on a nice Bordeaux, sampling a nice Gruyère...

You could edit The Dutch Republic down and still have a good 500-page book.

Latin is passé. Greek, on the other hand, might work.

How is reading Taschen's Caravaggio pretentious or elitist? Except for the price. I guess

To be truly élite you'll have to move to Britain.
