I'm really beginning to struggle with the series as a whole Mad Cow Bomber Send a noteboard - 08/09/2009 10:29:20 AM
I mean, don't get me wrong - I plugged through GotM, and loved the following two novels; but the last two or three books (I'm on Dust of Dreams now) feel like the characters spend half their time soliloquizing about the emptiness and meaninglessness of life and existence (Toll the Hounds was really bad for this, especially with the Tiste Andii kiddies). He throws in so many random characters from random tribes that it's nearly impossible to keep track of them all, and they all kind of blend together so it's hard to care. I'm really glad that DoD is revisiting the Beddicts and the Fourteenth, but the other three-quarters of the novel is the same way. At this point, it's beginning to feel like I'm just reading to find out what happens at the end.
