I don't think I ever truly "hated" Lockheart Seriana Sedai Send a noteboard - 26/07/2010 06:09:20 AM
It's hard to hate someone as much on re-reads because you know that they aren't a threat anymore. (It's kind of like Elaida in WoT. She's scary the first read. Now she's just amusing).


The reason I can't remember whether I loathed him is because he ended up being topped twice. Skeeter was bad and Umbridge was so horrible that I think I forgot whether I ever hated Lockhart :P

But I do know what you mean. He mostly just amused me, then he got his comeuppance and I laughed about karma being a bitch.
Also totally agree, Skeeter topped him and the Umbridge was the worst of all of them, IMHO. She is a well written villain. Lockheart is also really well written, but he doesn't get my blood pumping, he just makes me laugh at his incompetence.
I don't think all the characters made an intact transition from the books to the movies, which is kind of what movies do, but Kenneth Branagh's Lockheart was spot-on as far as I was concerned.
