Also, these chapters were an interesting expansion of the tension between Malfoy and Harry. In the Quiditch pitch, then in the dueling club (where Malfoy cheats, of course), and then an inside look into Slytherin and the "relationship" between Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle.
I like the way Rowling writes that. There's more than just Malfoy's feelings of inadequacy behind his animosity. There's rejection (from the train scene on the way to Hogwarts in Book 1), and Draco striving to live up to his father's example. I think he's a great character, however flawed.
Definitely. Draco is one of my favourite characters, and I think one of Rowling's better ones (the two are not always overlapping).
