The unabridged Zohar in 23 volumes probably ranks up there. Tom Send a noteboard - 03/08/2010 07:15:43 PM
1) what's the longest time you've spent reading a book?

The Zohar, hands down. I've been reading it since 2000 but of course I stop reading for months at a time and I'm reading the original Aramaic before reading the translation, so that makes for slower going.

2) do you ever get put off by length?
I'm still reading it. Also, I read the complete, unabridged Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire earlier this year so I guess not.

3) what about complexity?

I'm reading the Zohar. If that isn't complex, I don't know what is (perhaps some highly theoretical works of quantum physics written for specialists are more complex, but I don't read those typically).

4) how long is too long?

I don't know.

5) Is there any hope of me making it through Tom Bombadil in this thing?

"in this thing"? What do you mean?
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.

– Procopius
